1. Our Approach to Privacy
KeepIt helps you review and clean up the photo and video library on your phone. The analysis that finds similar shots and suggests the best one runs on your device. KeepIt has no user accounts, and we do not operate a server that receives or stores your photos, videos or their details. This policy explains what stays on your device and what limited technical data is processed by the service providers described below. KeepIt is provided by TrackIt ("we", "us"). Contact: trackit.tr@gmail.com.
2. Your Photo and Video Library
KeepIt asks for access to your photos and videos when you set it up. You can allow all photos or only the photos you select, and you can change this at any time in your device settings. With that access, KeepIt reads your library on the device: the photos and videos themselves and their metadata, such as capture date, file size, dimensions, album or folder, burst and Live Photo information, and location metadata if a photo has it. It uses this to group near-identical shots, sort by size and date, and show your library inside the app. Your photos, videos, file names, dates and locations are not sent to us or to the service providers listed in this policy.
3. On-Device Analysis
To suggest the best frame of a group (Smart Pick), KeepIt measures sharpness and, where a face is found, whether eyes are open. On iPhone this uses Apple's Vision framework (face landmarks, face capture quality and, on iOS 18 and later, an aesthetics score); on Android it uses Google's ML Kit face detection model, which is bundled with the app and runs on the device. KeepIt detects faces only to judge a frame; it does not recognise or identify people. Analysis results, a small visual signature used to tell similar shots apart, and what Smart Pick learns from your choices are stored in the app's local database on your device. On iPhone, KeepIt does not download originals that are stored only in iCloud in order to analyse them. When you ask KeepIt to keep only the still photo of a Live Photo, iOS may download that original from iCloud on KeepIt's behalf; this happens between your device and Apple. On Android, Google's ML Kit may send Google information about the performance and use of the ML Kit APIs in the app; it does not send your images.
4. Places
KeepIt can group photos by place using the location metadata already stored in your photos. This grouping is worked out on your device and no location leaves it. KeepIt does not ask for or use your device's current location. On Android, the system permission to read photo location metadata (ACCESS_MEDIA_LOCATION) is used only for this.
5. Your Decisions and Changes to Your Library
The decisions you make in KeepIt (Keep, Delete, Later), your delete list, your settings and your review progress are stored on your device. KeepIt never deletes anything automatically: photos you mark for deletion wait on the delete list until you choose to move them, and the operating system then asks you to confirm. Confirmed items go to Recently Deleted on iPhone or the system trash on Android, where you can recover them for the period the system allows (currently 30 days). When you ask KeepIt to keep only the still photo of a Live Photo or motion photo, it saves the still as a new photo in your library and puts the original on your delete list. Deleting the app removes KeepIt's local data from the device; it does not delete or restore any photos.
6. Third-Party Services
KeepIt uses the following service providers. None of them receives your photos, videos, file names, capture dates or locations. These providers may process data on servers outside your country, including in the United States or the European Union, under their own safeguards and privacy policies.
- Amplitude (product analytics) — processes usage events with rounded counts and small categories only (for example: onboarding step viewed, review style chosen, photo access granted, library indexed with a bucketed photo count, a group of similar shots resolved, delete list confirmed or cancelled, paywall shown, purchase result), a randomly generated device identifier, and the operating system name, version and platform. KeepIt turns off Amplitude's collection of IP address, advertising identifiers, device model and manufacturer, carrier and language. There is no in-app switch for analytics.
- Adapty (purchases) — processes purchase and subscription information (such as product, transaction and access status), an identifier Adapty creates for your installation, and basic device and app information, in order to provide and restore KeepIt Pro. KeepIt turns off Adapty's collection of IP address and advertising identifiers and does not use its attribution features.
- Apple App Store / Google Play — process payments under their own privacy policies. We do not receive your payment details.
- Apple's public App Store lookup service — the Other apps screen in Settings loads our app list from it. The request contains no personal data.
7. Contacting Support
If you use Contact us in Settings, KeepIt opens an email in your mail app with the app version, your platform and OS version, and your purchase account identifier already filled in, so we can identify your build and purchase. You can review or remove this before sending. We use emails you send us only to answer them.
8. How We Use Data
We use the limited data described in sections 6 and 7 to provide and restore purchases, understand how the app is used, fix problems and improve features. We do not sell personal data, we do not use it for advertising, there are no ads in KeepIt, and we do not track you across apps or websites owned by other companies. Where required (for example under the GDPR or Türkiye's KVKK), we rely on the performance of a contract (purchases) and our legitimate interest in maintaining and improving the app (analytics).
9. Data Retention
Data KeepIt keeps on your device stays there until you delete the app. Data processed by Amplitude and Adapty is retained for as long as necessary for the purposes above and according to the retention settings of those services, after which it is deleted or anonymised. Support emails are kept for as long as needed to handle your request.
10. Children's Privacy
KeepIt is a general-audience utility and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
11. Your Rights and Choices
You can change or revoke photo access at any time in your device settings, reset what Smart Pick has learned in Settings, and delete the app to remove its local data. Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete or object to the processing of personal data held by our service providers on our behalf. To make a request, contact trackit.tr@gmail.com. Because we do not have an account system, we may need information that helps us locate the relevant records (for example, your purchase account identifier from Settings or the approximate date of a purchase). You may also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.
12. Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy as the app changes. We will post the updated version on this page and revise the “Last updated” date. If changes are material, we will take reasonable steps to inform you, for example through the app.
